Summary
The Sr. Product Strategy Manager is responsible for identifying and articulating the direction and vision of the product within the overarching Product’s portfolio. This includes understanding the market and customer, contributing to a product vision, developing business cases, ensuring a product or set of product features meets business requirements and collaborate with other teams to tell the story of the product strategy. This position will work closely with the product team to set the direction of the product.
Responsibilities
**60% - Product Analysis & Strategy** * Drive the product direction taking into consideration the build vs. buy vs. partner strategy * Understand the market activities & forces, competitive landscape, upmarket expansion and needs and applicable business models * Identify differentiators for how we disrupt and opportunities for product adjacencies including across the athena suite of products and services * Specify market requirements for current and future product functionality and services by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers * Identify metrics and success criteria that Product Managers and Product team members should be tracking, to help ensure transparency and visibility to program success and opportunities for improvement – Requesting analyses to inform backlogs and product roadmaps * Work collaboratively with our development partners in building a solution to support their operations and learn where we want to focus as we move upmarket **40% - Product Roadmap Collaboration & Coordination** * Partner with Product Management leaders to drive portfolio and product strategy - collaboratively work with Product Management to research and define future work for their product areas and ID'ing business opportunities that will drive product success (including build/buy decisions) * Collaborate with Business Development, Sales, and other internal partner leaders as needed - to define and socialize an articulated vision of the product strategy; support service expansion diligence; and analysis with M&A and potential external partner relationships * Establish effective relationships with R&D and other key stakeholders across athena and collaborate in understanding the market and competition of our services in order to improve product decisions and drive the strategy * Provide direction and input in the PRSM/portfolio planning process * Assist Sales, Product Marketing, and other teams in telling the story of overall strategy and direction of the Product and Services
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree required; Degree (Bachelor’s or Masters) in Business or Product Design preferred * Understanding of healthcare / health IT environment preferred * 3-5 years relevant product management or product strategy experience * 5-7 years working with stakeholders in a business environment, working across cross-functional groups * Technical understanding (mobile, SaaS, data) – ability to gut check technical feasibility and timelines and remove technical development barriers * Experience bringing products to market * Demonstrated success at driving innovation in a dynamic environment, using analytic and quantitative capabilities to drive product decisions * Excellent verbal and written communication skills **Behaviors & Abilities Required:** * Passion for improving healthcare, with empathy for the user of our products and services * Can deal comfortable with enterprise clients and understands how they work and think; can craft approaches that are effective for important external stakeholders. * Experienced, confident presenter that can command expertise and credibility with executive and client-facing audiences; that can drive team and stakeholders to effective decisions or consensus * Strong negotiation and problem solving skills, with energy & enthusiasm for solving unknowns * Ability to align execution to organizational vision - Sees ahead clearly, can anticipate future consequences and product trends accurately; has broad knowledge and perspective and is future oriented. * Ability to influence horizontally and vertically with peers, stakeholders, and executive decision-makers - both inside and outside of athena * Adaptability as both an effective team member and leader - through initiative and flexibility in team goal orientation; and adapting approach and/or goals to quickly-changing changing environment, industry, and business demands * Travel required, predicting 20-40% as needed; and will include client site visits, conferences, trade shows, Sales and Marketing events, and trainings
