Summary
The School of Health Services Administration, Office of the Academic Dean is seeking a senior faculty with a background, passion and desire to teach and create a community of scholarship within Healthcare Compliance & Privacy from our campus in Tempe, AZ. Scholarship for purpose of disseminating knowledge. As the staff subject matter expert this role will teach students, mentor faculty and partner with curriculum teams to ensure the quality and delivery of our educational products. Assistant Program Dean are teaching full-time, engaging in specialized outreach and instructional strategies to support student learning. Coordinates with administration and various stakeholders to inform the university about the changing needs of specific student populations for the purposes of the continual quality improvement of educational products and services.
Responsibilities
* Responds to student issues and concerns, evaluate students, for retention, and assess student work abilities and to facilitate the learning experience. * Communicates effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, employees, and external parties. * Provides guidance and instruction in a content area and as a remediation expert (aka, a SME) * Takes a key role in promoting and implementing faculty development initiatives to enhance teaching effectiveness of practitioner faculty. * Participates and may lead task forces and committees, including co-sharing Academic Program Council, to represent and address academic concerns to campus management team and/or central administration. This may include participating in the planning, implementation, and coordination of campus and/or regional activities to maximize service quality effectiveness and efficiency. * Teaches multiple concurrent classes and demonstrates exceptional teaching practices as identified by the Faculty Handbook and University administration.
Ideal Candidate
* Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on scale and within prescribed budget. This may also include managing the project-related workflow and maintaining consistent communication with department staff regarding project timelines and progression of projects. * Develops or assists in the development of curriculum, program and/or other related University literature as needed or * requested. * Prepares various project reports for management or external parties by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. * Represents the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the educational and government communities by * participating in targeted events, conferences, and workshops. * Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. * Assess and assign instructional development and editing requests. * Evaluate staff workloads and make staffing proposals, as appropriate. * Calculate and project task timeframes. * Manage instructional development and editing processes, and make adjustments as needed. * Manage department style guidelines. * Manage and/or conduct quality assurance activities such as service observances, peer reviews, and peer evaluations. * Coach and develop instructional developers and editors. * Participate in professional development by attending conferences and workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and/or participating in professional societies. * Performs other duties as assigned or apparent. **Basic Qualifications** * Doctorate in health related field, Masters with a specialty in Law will also consider a JD and significant related industry experience. * At least 3 years of legal practice * At least five years of working or teaching in “Content Areas”. * Must meet content area specifications for “Content Areas” and other requirements for the Faculty position as evidenced by academic degrees and work experience in the discipline * At least five years of teaching experience in higher education setting required; experience teaching diverse adult learner populations preferred * Certification preferred: Healthcare Law * Experience with Online classes, as proven by successfully teaching at least six online classes strongly preferred **Additional Qualifications** * Knowledge and proficiency in their specialization as evidenced by academic degrees, certifications, continuing education and/or work experience. * Knowledge of current educational research, trends and best practices as evidenced by work experience and/or continuing education. * Able to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, employees, and external parties leveraging excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Able to demonstrate the ability to work independently managing multiple priorities and tasks for to deliver required results efficiently and effectively (self-motivated) * Ability to convey a professional image, as well as effectively represent the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community. * Ability to demonstrate a high level of problem solving and decision making.
