Summary
The Co-Op will work with a Senior Software Developer to design and develop software applications using Agile methodology, to provide technical support, and to ensure the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated engineering and mathematical aptitude, excellent problem solving and communication skills, and a passion to learn new ideas. Basic programming skills are essential; .NET/Java, as well as database experience, is a plus.
Responsibilities
* Participate in software design meetings and analyze user needs to determine technical requirements. * Modify, repair, or expand existing programs to correct errors, increase efficiency, upgrade interfaces, or improve performance. * Perform trial runs for testing and analysis on software and systems to identify problems. * Plan layout and installation of new software system or modification of existing system for client projects of moderate scope and complexity. * Provide support for software installation, tuning for databases, systems, and networks. * Code and program new functions and enhancements to existing functions and fix software bugs, primarily focused on complex functions/bugs. May evaluate overall systems and develop diagrams and logic flowcharts. * Follow determined programming standards for software products. * Perform unit testing of all new/updated code. * Perform qualitative, quantitative and statistical analysis on results. * Collaborate with other systems analysts/technical consultants to ensure that efforts are coordinated. * Other duties may be assigned to support the organization and its goals.
Ideal Candidate
**Education and/or Experience** * Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters degree program of a four-year college or university; preferred majors include Computer Science, Information Technology, or any Engineering and Mathematical degree which includes some software development experience. * Excellent communication and analytical skills * Programming courses in C#, Java or .Net * Database experience in Oracle, SQL Server, PL/SQL or Access * Self-starter and hard worker with good organizational skills and attention to detail. **Reasoning Ability** * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
