Software Engineer

In this role, you will work as part of a project team to develop and deliver commercial software products relative to IHS’s Chemical business line. Successful candidates will have general knowledge of one or more development platforms, but will have significant experience with .NET. Experience with Java, Graphical User Interface, or database technologies is also helpful. In this role, you will demonstrate your knowledge of a spectrum of programming languages and techniques, and develop solutions using existing and new technologies.

* Under guidance, participate as part of a project team to design, code, test and implement programs to support the portfolio management process. * Use established testing procedures to ensure application is thoroughly tested throughout development and before release. * Provide input in establishing program and/or project budget and timelines. * Monitor and report to management on project status, identify issues that may impede attainment of project goals, recommend and implement corrective measures. * Continuously expand knowledge in area of specialization. * Perform other duties as required.

* Bachelors in Computer Science or related field. * 4+ years of experience in software development and database design. **Skills/Qualifications:** * Working knowledge of .NET and C#. * Experience with HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, PHP, Java, Perl, Eclipse, or WCF is a plus. * Understanding of the project management process – experience working with AUP and Unit Testing is a plus. * Analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong math background desired. * Able to work effectively as part of a project/program team and foster team cooperation. * Able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel. * Stays current with rapidly changing technologies and applies them to business needs.
