Summary
Zillow's Lincoln, NE office is seeking a talented and motivated person to join our testing team as a Quality Assurance Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity as we move toward a continuous deployment environment. The QA Engineer’s primary goal will be to ensure an error free system to all internal and external users. This person will also be responsible for creating and maintaining automated tests and writing test plans. What’s in it for you? Responsibilities
* Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables. * Backend database testing in MySQL environment including validating stored procs. * Identify test requirements from specifications and design test coverage plan. * Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like the test data, data validation, harness scripts and automated scripts. * Execute and evaluate manual and automated test cases and report test results. * Hold and facilitate test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members. * Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management. * Ensure that validated deliverables meet design specifications and requirements. * Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes. * Design automated test scripts and deploy these scripts using automation software * Because test automation is not effective for all kinds of tests, the tester must make determinations as to what portion of the overall test will benefit from automation
Ideal Candidate
* Clear communicator (written and verbal) –communicate bugs to developers and other stakeholders * Creative solving of technical problems –ability to translate technical requirements into test plans * Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables * Ability to think abstract * Liaison with development, product owner, training/documentation and customer support **Requirements:** * Basic knowledge of javascript and shell commands * Basic knowledge of Continuous Deployment/Continuous Integration * Knowledge of Security, Load, Performance, Integration, Regression, Compatibility testing * Knowledge of the Development Life Cycle, experience in all phases preferable * Strong work ethic. Ability to timely and accurately organize, prioritize and complete all job responsibilities * Work independently and with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of quality work * Experience with analyzing and identifying the strengths and weaknesses of options and exercise critical thinking, problem solving and judgement skills * Experience with Automated Testing tools i.e. Sahi, Selenium * 3-5 years experience in Software Quality Assurance Testing * Experience in Agile methodology with an emphasis on Scrum * 2 year degree in Computer Programming or related field preferable
