West Harlem Group Assistance, Inc. (WHGA), a community based development corporation, was established more than 45 years ago to revitalize the under-invested West and Central Harlem communities - riddled with dilapidated and abandoned buildings. Ironically, WHGA's primary function has become to quell the negative impact of such rapid gentrification on our low to moderate income constituency as Harlem, over the past several years, is experiencing an influx of new businesses and investments.
Summary
The Chief Financial Officer, (CFO), reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the safeguarding of the Agency's assets and the financial stability of West Harlem Group Assistance, Inc. (WHGA) as a whole. The Chief Financial Officer oversees all budgeting, financial reports and other financial functions of the various non-profit enterprises. The Chief Financial Officer further coordinates the day to day financial operations for West Harlem Group Assistance's affiliates and ensures contractual compliance to all programs and is responsible for the implementation of both short and long term goals of the Organization.
Responsibilities
* Interacts with Funding Sources. * Acts as liaison between the Company and outside financial institutions. * Supervises Facility Comptrollers. * Establishes and implements internal accounting controls. * Establishes Company accounting policies and procedures. * Works with independent auditors in preparing the annual financial statements. * Serves as part of the Executive Committee. * Performs special projects for the Board and Executive Director. * Works directly with the Program Directors on their facility's specific issues. * Prepares annual budgets. * Prepares quarterly and annual financial reports. * Review all accounts and reports on a monthly basis. * Regulatory Compliance. * Performs all duties necessary for the operation of the Fiscal Department
Ideal Candidate
* Public accounting background a must * CPA with minimum of 10 years of experience in public/nonprofit accounting * Analytical and management skills * Verbal and written communications skills * Prior financial management experience * Understanding of government programs * Knowledge of IRS compliance * Experience with real estate industry is highly preferred.
