Summary
The Director of Trade Marketing-Outdoor Products for Vista Outdoor is responsible for partnering with the Sales and Product/Marketing teams managing the development and execution of collaborate business plans. The results of this partnership will deliver sales, share and profit objectives for Vista Outdoor. This role will be responsible for developing and execution of go-to-market strategies for retailer base. Train team members to utilize data, information systems, and metrics around financial, brand and shopper trends to maximize market share, sales and profits. Building cross functional relationships internally and at the customer level to ensure delivery of corporate objectives
Responsibilities
**Financial** * Oversees area TM budget to ensure effective budget management and that all resources are effectively used to drive optimal results achieving profitable growth. * Contribute to the allocation of TM funds to appropriately support brand, market and key account priorities in a way that optimizes ROI. * Responsible for managing and delivering results within the TM budget assigned by TM VP, allocated at the beginning of the year, in line with Marketing and Sales objectives. * Responsible for analyzing and reporting on promotion activities performed / level of spending by brand and GPL, evaluating key programs results against established KPIs, leveraging Finance and Business Ops as needed for ROI details. * Contribute to the development and compliance management of account key performance indicators. Makes proactive recommendations to improve programming details and/or execution efficiencies for gaps against KPIs. * Ensuring that the company is managing customer profitability analysis on product line decisions * Communication leader to Sales/GPL leaders on plan achievement, and actions needed. * Active participant in S&OP meetings * Supports GPL leaders in stage gates **Program Execution:** * Contributes the development and communication of the annual planning calendar. * Leads the integrated business planning process for Vista outdoor. * Responsible for managing the relationship with external parties (MarketTrack/Young America), overseeing and assisting the team in briefing external agencies and suppliers on Vista activities for implementation and execution of different activities * Ensures that programs are executed to company objectives/goals * Acts as the primary reference point to resolve issues/ problems escalated from the teams to ensure proper execution of key objectives with Sales & Marketing. * Builds capability within the team to deliver effective selling stories and brand education for Vista Sales teams. * Collaborates with Brand/Product teams on National Promotions for business units, and responsibly for fiscal reporting * Leads the develops customer specific promotions with respective team members * Performs field visits together with Sales leaders and TM team in a systematic and recurring way to receive first hand insights on promos execution results and on the different outlets and locations, identifying issues and opportunities. * Build Trade Marketing team that are product experts and can provide insight to retailers on category needs based upon their expertise. * Works directly with Field Sales and/or Key Accounts as needed to review and resolve more complex issues. **Marketplace:** * Contributes to the development of methodologies and reports to effectively analyze results and performance against KPIs. * Analyzes program effectiveness and drives an action oriented plan to optimize wins and change plans going forward that don’t deliver as expected. * In charge of channel segmentation analysis, supported by sales operations and the GPLs, with the objective of suggesting visits’ and local programs prioritization * Ensure the team uses the most effective tools/ data bases, supported by the sales ops team, to provide a complete view on channels trends/development as enabler for the planning cycle and to create effective shopper marketing programs specifically for SAM or focus accounts. * Creates sales presentations based on specific shopper insights analysis and internal sales data collaborating with trade marketing managers and GPL teams to be utilized for incremental opportunities and line review presentations * Attend top-to-top meetings with key customers to share category/consumer/shopper knowledge to optimize collaborative working relationships and capture feedback. * Presents selling stories, presentations developed together with Marketing to explain Vista products, promo activities, targets and benefits coming from selling our products * Supports Divisional Sales VP/ Regional Managers (or National Accounts managers) during their negotiations with Distributors (National Accounts), defining argumentation's and KPI’s for brand building
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing or related field required, MBA preferred * Strong, classic Trade/Customer Marketing background with a leading consumer packaged goods company * Proven success working in a fast paced environment where strategic brand-building efforts are complemented by hard-driving promotional activities * Proven ability and desire to help build a Marketing infrastructure, including processes, methodologies and tools required to drive Marketing effectiveness * 4-5 years CPG Trade Marketing, Marketing, Category/Channel Management or Sales experience required * Outstanding presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills required * Familiarity with CPG trade channels (Mass, Sporting Goods, Outdoor Retailer, Specialty & Wholesale) required * Passion for and experience with outdoor sporting, hunt/shoot recreation is preferred
