Senior Developer

Vanguard is a client-owned investment company that offers low-cost mutual funds, ETFs, advice, and related services to institutional and individual investors, and financial professionals. The company works to reduce cost and complexity for all investors.

To provide senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of Java based applications and databases.

* Develop and enhance Java based applications and tools * Provide expertise to support and maintain non-production UNIX environments * Write code, unit tests, and automation. * Identify exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges * Perform ongoing refactoring of code, utilizing visualization and other techniques to fast track concepts, and deliver continuous improvement * Provide prompt technical assistance to end users by answering questions and troubleshooting issues in a multi-site environment. * Establish appropriate relationships at all levels within the Company to provide the appropriate level of support. * Explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients. * Perform systems analysis, including system requirements and definition (e.g., prototyping), and logical and physical design. * Acts as a system tester for unit, integration, systems, acceptance, and related testing. * Understand client business functions and technology needs, including Vanguard‘s technologies, tools, and applications, * Understand and comply with IT policies and procedures

* Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field, along with 5 years development experience * Advanced knowledge of one or more testing tools, performance tools, and scripting languages such as PERL and KornShell * Strong UNIX and Java programming skills * Working knowledge of web and application services, along with WebSphere and tcServer * Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills * Strong demonstrated analysis and problem solving skills * Production acceptance, including elevations and change management * Demonstrate a track record of strong database and data access analysis, design and implementation skills/capabilities * Knowledge of Cloud based tools and technologies strong desired
