- Provides immediate on-site classroom support for the Forensic Science Institute when issues are reported during normal working hours.
- Provides extended weekday and weekend remote support as required while on call, including on-site support if necessary. Extended support hours are from 7:00am to 10:00pm on weekdays. Weekend extended support hours may vary based on events scheduled. Extended support hours are subject to change.
- Provides remote and on-site support for UCO-owned/leased computer hardware, software, and multimedia technologies.
- Hires, schedules, trains, and manages student employees to provide supplementary support and quality assurance of classroom computer and multimedia technology throughout the day, as well as during evenings and weekends.
- Responsible for computer builds/rebuilds, hardware replacement, data migration, and hardware/software disposition/surplus (including the destruction of data on storage media).
- Performs entry-level Windows Server system administration as needed on departmental servers. This could potentially involve setting up network printers, file shares, websites, etc.
- Translates technical issues so that non-technical personnel can understand these issues. Provides ad-hoc training as necessary, and provides scheduled training at various times of the year for faculty and staff on the use of classroom technology.
- Maintains a customer-service attitude at all times. Responsible for ensuring that the student employees managed by this position also maintain a customer-service attitude at all times.
- Continually updates skills and knowledge relative to the position and the technology industry. Utilizes resources that are freely available online and elsewhere. If necessary, requests and provides adequate justification for formal training.
- Recommends and implements policies and procedures for all labs and classrooms within the Forensic Science Institute.
- Provides support and installation of hardware and software in the labs, classrooms, public areas, and on individual UCO-owned employee computers.
- Troubleshoots complex problems with hardware and software in the labs, classrooms, and other departmental computers.
- Performs repairs and routine maintenance on computer and multimedia equipment and arranges for vendor repair service as needed.
- Recommends and implements physical security solutions for classroom, lab, and other publicly accessible technology.
- Ensures that appropriate restrictions are in place to secure operating system and application software in the classrooms and labs so that the software can be used as needed without individuals being able to change the configuration.
- Evaluates, recommends, and coordinates the purchase of computer hardware, software, and multimedia technology. Reviews technology purchase requests and follows procedures to obtain approval from OIT and Legal Services.
- Maintains a current inventory of all computer and multimedia hardware, as well as all purchased software that is not managed by OIT, to facilitate required annual inventory reporting to the State of Oklahoma.
- Maintains records for software licenses and keys, license agreements, contracts, and maintenance agreements. Maintains vendor sales and service contacts and provides timely notification to FSI staff to ensure maintenance agreement renewals.
- Coordinates and manages vendor installation of wiring, mounting of projectors, and other such scenarios involving technology in which the work is outside of the scope of this position.
- Manages digital signage implemented within the Forensic Science Institute. Duties include hardware and software configuration and troubleshooting, as well as end-user training and support.
- Assists with any issues related to classroom capture. Obtains support from the vendor and/or the OIT Technology Resource Center when required. May provide limited hardware/software support and end-user training/support.
- May provide some level of support for specialized forensics equipment and/or software. This would likely only involve acting as the technical contact/liaison when contacting the vendor to report a hardware or software problem.
