Responsibilities
Manage a fleet of dedicated drivers and tractors, Complete paperwork, load planning and dispatching while providing customer service to ensure company goals and customer expectations are met. - Manage driver and equipment utilization of a slip seat operation. - Complete driver performance reviews and approve home time requests. - Document any issues that may lead to disciplinary action or termination. Make recommendation as to the action needed to resolve the issue, including write-ups and terminations. - Update reports daily (Level of Service, Detention and Driver List). - Assist with billing issues from the customer when needed to ensure the billing is correct. - Complete paperwork and handle drivers coming in; dispatch and assign trucks. - Ensure on time service is met by receiving loads for the customer and then dispatching according to hours of service. - Promote safe operations by monitoring and insuring driver’s participation in all safety related training, while reminding drivers of the importance of operating the truck safely. - Create manual loads that do not come over in EDI. - Manage driver’s hours of service to ensure DOT compliance. - Manage driver’s mileage to sustain a good average for each driver. - Ensure timeliness of backhauls and issue detention numbers when necessary. - Assist shop to ensure trucks are in for scheduled or necessary maintenance. - Remain in contact with customers to ensure timely service and problem resolution. - Ensure driver compliance with all company policies assist with issues concerning other departments. - Ensure all random drug screens and driver training is complete. - Oversee shift transition - Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost effective manner. - May include other duties as assigned by Management.
Ideal Candidate
- Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma. - 1-3 years transportation experience - AS400 experience preferred - Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel - Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills - Extreme patience dealing with explosive situations: flawless follow-up procedures. - Comprehensive knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations. (DOT – national and state) - Demonstrates a basic knowledge of U.S. geography and the calculation of transit times across multiple U.S. time zones.
