Summary
The Director of Sales (Pittsburgh/Ottawa) is responsible for leading the sales organization for the Fisher Scienctific Direct Sales teams based in Pittsburgh and Ottawa. The successful candidate will ensure a customer - centric culture is maintained and strategic selling initiative, including annual revenue and profitability goals, are achieved or exceeded. The Director of Sales will report to the Sr. Director, Direct Sales; General Manager FSE.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Fisher Scientific Direct Sales teams based in Pittsburgh and Ottawa. * Ensure all teams are integrated and aligned with the broader Fisher Scientific Direct Sales organization * Achieve strategic objectives and annual goals including revenue, profitability, employee and customer initiatives * Manage daily, monthly, quarterly and long term sales metrics and forecasting processes for assigned teams. * Standardize sales processes and develop strategies and employ tactics to improve margin rates and profitability. * Maintain strong alignment with leadership and organization goals * Recruit, develop and retain top talent * Identify employee development opportunities, create and recommend solutions to address skill gaps and establish measures to improve overall team performance * Support the consistent implementation of company initiatives. * Build strong internal-company relationships with key management personnel. * Proactively identify opportunities and facilitate an innovative culture of continuous process improvement.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum requirements / Qualifications:** * Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in business, science, or education and/or equivalent experience. * Candidates must have 5-7 years of progressive experience with at least 3 years of direct sales supervisory and/or sales team leadership experience. **Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:** * Understanding of standard business practices related to sales operations processes and systems (sales cycle, sales methodology, CRM, territory management, etc.). * Detailed understanding of the selling process. * Knowledge of market segments, sales processes, and industry specific products and market dynamics. * Experience leading sales teams; experience working within a distribution model selling. * Excellent communication skills with background in developing and summarizing complex information for multiple executive audiences. * Willingness to travel 10-20%.
