Senior Analytical Chemist - Size Exclusion Chromatography

Lubrizol is currently seeking a highly motivated senior analytical chemist with expertise in size exclusion chromatography and polymer characterization. Experience or expertise in liquid chromatography (HPLC or UHPLC) would be an advantage. The position is in Lubrizol’s Applied Sciences department which services a broad range of products and chemistries within the Advanced Materials organization. This position will provide consulting and experimental services for the purpose of advancing Lubrizol technologies and bringing our products to market. The ideal candidate will develop into a Technical Fellow.

* Support the development of new products and/or fundamental knowledge through application of liquid chromatography and polymer characterization techniques. * Perform hands-on research as well as mentor and provide guidance to technical staff. * Drive projects from inception through completion while taking leadership in problem solving. * Support business needs by developing and implementing analytical methods for new or existing Lubrizol products. * Work closely with R&D chemists and engineers in a global team environment. * Troubleshoot and maintain test instruments, equipment, and procedures to ensure the highest level of accuracy and reliability in our data. * Develop new innovative methods to characterize Lubrizol products and develop fundamental knowledge on their performance. * Communicate and interact with a broad range of internal and external customers through technical reports, presentations, and 1-on-1 conversations. * Meaningfully convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

* Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field, with experience in size exclusion chromatography and polymer characterization. * Minimum of 5 years of experience with size exclusion chromatography using multiple detectors. * Demonstrated project management experience including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and well-organized. * Ability to travel as required (15% maximum). * Track record of technical publications **Considered a Plus** * Experience with light scattering, viscometry, analyzing polymer composition by liquid chromatography, or other polymer characterization techniques. * Method development experience with liquid chromatography (HPLC or UHPLC). * Experience with liquid chromatography under critical condition, preparative scale liquid chromatography, developing techniques for monitoring production, or LC-MS.
