Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our marketing and public relations programs.
Responsibilities
- Carnegie Mellon Qatar is a diverse and dynamic place. Sponsored by the Qatar Foundation, Carnegie Mellon joined Education City in 2004 to support the country’s vision of human development, social development, economic development and environmental development. The campus offers five of the university’s top-ranked programs: Biological Sciences, Business Administration, Computational Biology, Computer Science and Information Systems. - This Executive Director role is a senior management position responsible for the strategic planning, development and production of marketing and public relations programs for the Carnegie Mellon Qatar Campus. This includes the planning and control of timely information flows relating to all public relations activities; event & VIP relationship marketing; campus website and data analytics; international, national and regional media relations; writing and overseeing marketing publications and audio visual materials; development and production of undergraduate recruitment marketing print, online and specialty materials; sustain a recently-created campus identity system & institutional communications program based on university brand standards. - The Executive Director of Marketing and Public Relations in Qatar is a critical decision maker on the academic team. The director supervises a staff, develops annual strategic plans and budget, and develops and sustains relationships important to the campus and to the workflow of the office. This position reports to the Associate Dean of the Qatar Campus. - The successful candidate must be able to understand and appreciate the distinctive culture of Qatar. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to sustain positive relationships with the Qatar Foundation and other professionals in Education City. The ability to mentor young professionals in the skills of public relations will be a plus.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communication, business or other relevant field; - Master’s degree preferred - 5-8 years’ relevant experience including management responsibilities - Demonstrable success in leading major projects and work teams - Ability to work after hours and weekends when appropriate.
