Senior DevOPS Engineer

Symphony is seeking an exceptional Senior DevOps Engineer to architect, improve, operate and monitor our growing cloud infrastructure in Amazon Web service (AWS). The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in maintaining large scale, mission critical web services with various underlying services and dependencies on AWS cloud infrastructure. The person in this role will engage closely with engineering teams to deliver highly available and scalable cloud services. You should have expert Linux administration skills to troubleshoot and diagnose problems when they occur and trace the symptoms back to the root cause. A successful candidate will have a passion for playing with a wide variety of open source tools, be able to code and script, and enjoy working on large scale systems. You are a team player who can jump in and use your broad experience to recommend and implement best practices. * Partner with engineering team and design, architect and build highly available and scalable web services on AWS * Deploy, monitor, and administer web applications and underlying services on AWS and other cloud infrastructure platforms * Responsible for Linux systems administration, operations, automation, deployment, support and monitoring for all production and development systems * Build automation scripts and frameworks using Saltstack to automate the system and software deployments and alerts to monitor system health * Lead technology initiatives that drive scalability and reliability * Improve the performance of our web applications and solve scaling issues * Write tools and automation that eliminate repetitive tasks * Participate in 24x7 operation support and on-call rotation * Use, test, update, and create OPS Runbooks for production services

* 5+ years experience as DevOPS engineer in 24x7 production operations, with solid experience in Linux systems administration and architecture * Experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2, EBS, ELB, S3, Cloudfront in a highly available and scalable production environment in multiple availability Zones and regions * Experience developing automated deployment scripts and tools for system provisioning and configuration using Python and Bash * Experience supporting web apps in Java, Tomcat and LAMP stacks * Experience in Jenkins continuous integration, Build, Release and Deployment, GitHub * Experience with monitoring/reporting technologies (e.g. Nagios, Graphite, Elastic search, Logstash, Kibana (ELK) * Ability to effectively interface and communicate with engineering teams and stakeholders * Proficient in using command line tools to quickly triage and fix production issues then conduct root cause analysis * B.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent work experience) **Must have:** * Expert Linux administration skills * AWS experience * Automation using Shell scripting, Python **Nice to have:** * Hadoop, NoSQL, Kafka, Zookeeper, Solr, Release deployment, Nagios, Ganglia, Ruby * Network architecture and administration skills, VPN
