RXBAR manufactures and distributes fruit and nut energy bars that are rich in protein. Made with eight or less ingredients, including egg whites and nuts, the bars come apple, blueberry, coconut cacao, and coffee cacao. RXBAR was founded in January 2013 and is based in Chicago, Illinois.

This process starts in Research & Development, where this role resides. The Food Safety Scientist will be primarily responsible for ensuring food safety and quality standards of facilities, raw materials and finished goods are met. This role provides a great opportunity to gain exposure to a key function at RXBAR and grow within the organization.
Responsibilities
* Auditing Suppliers: Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, Global Food Safety Initiatives and food defense plans? * Problem solve product concerns and lead continuous improvement projects:? * Conduct scientific studies as assigned and compile scientific reports or decision making documents * Review and update technical product specifications * Coordinate completion of Corrective Action Preventative Action Plans (CAPA)? * Conduct routine, random, and competitive technical product cuttings * Serve as a highly motivated leader and quick thinker that possess excellent communication skills to effectively interact with a host of different personalities * Highly organized, detail orientated and proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Ideal Candidate
**Required Skills and Qualifications:??** * Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Applied Science, or related field * At least two (2) years of experience in the food industry * Creative bench-top product development capabilities * Availability and willingness to travel (occasionally weekends) * Hunger to learn * Intentional Excellence * High degree of professional integrity, ethics, and confidentiality **Other Qualifications:** * Working knowledge of ESHA Genesis and Project Management software * Knowledge of Regulatory and Food Law, food safety principles and food processing preferred
