Summary
The ideal candidate has significant experience writing robust, low-level Systems software. You’re deeply familiar with Linux and building highly concurrent and stable tools on top of it. You have solid C programming skills, a good understanding of modern networking, and an understanding how systems software fits into large scale operations. You want to contribute to open source and build software that empowers millions of small businesses to grow. You're pragmatic, self-directed, and don't like red tape. You want to work in an environment with no investors, no sales department, and all the resources needed to build the best product.
Responsibilities
* Build core, low-level software to support MailChimp’s infrastructure * Develop new tools to support our volume * Partner closely with Ops and Delivery engineers to deploy and support these tools across hundreds of servers on multi-site, high bandwidth networks
Ideal Candidate
* Deep Familiarity with Linux and the Linux kernel * Solid C programming experience * Advanced understanding of networking and writing network-heavy software * Strong sense for how systems software fits into larger infrastructure **Bonus Points** * Experience with SMTP and writing software around it * Experience working on outbound email, particularly if at high volumes (millions/billions per day) * Knowledge of modern Systems-focused languages and approaches (e.g. Go, Rust) * Familiarity with Java and the JVM
