Oracle is a computer technology corporation developing and marketing computer hardware systems and enterprise software products.

The Oracle Linux team builds a Linux distribution and works on next generation cloud technologies and infrastructure components. Our team also works on integrating Linux with Oracle products and offerings. We're looking for a software developer to help us enhance our Oracle Linux offering.

- The role involves understanding and fixing issues discovered in new or existing Linux distro components as well as debugging and fixing integration issues that come up when using new upstream software components and Oracle products. - The role offers the opportunity to get a good understanding of how Linux is deployed in a data center and a cloud environment using next generation tools. - Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc. - As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. - Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs. - Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. - Fully competent in own area of expertise. - May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel.

- Experience with C/C++, Python, Go, Java, bash - Good understanding of Linux, virtualization, and distributed systems - Experience with various network and storage protocols - Excellent problem solving and debugging skills - Good development skills with DevOps mentality - Some system engineer or system administrator experience is preferred - Experience with git and svn - Able to work independently and in a distributed team - Self-motivated and detail oriented - Excellent communication skills - BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. - 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
