About Learning Equality
Learning Equality, a California-based nonprofit organization, is dedicated to creating tools for the sharing and creation of open-licensed educational content for use by anyone around the world, with special emphasis on reaching the 60% of the world that does not have Internet access, and those with limited-bandwidth, expensive, or unreliable connections.
Summary
You care deeply about making the world a better place, believe in the power of learning, strive to promote equality, and resonate with our statement of core values. You love to help people, and like to think deeply about how to serve the needs of a diverse set of key players in education: learners, teachers, trainers, administrators, technologists, content creators, and content curators.
Responsibilities
Your role is to help learners, coaches, administrators, and technologists use the Learning Equality software effectively. You will help set up and maintain the tools (e.g. forums and other channels) which will sustainably support the needs of our growing family of KA Lite and Kolibri users. You will develop a clearer picture of who our users are, what they want, and how we can supported them most effectively in order achieve equal learning for all. We are looking for someone to support our team in the following ways: * Participate as an Implementation Team member, manage relationships with our multitude of partner and grassroots users, and synthesize feedback in order to sustainably address community needs in an open, effective, and efficient way. * Become an expert on how our partners use Kolibri. You will have a finger on the pulse of the user landscape and their contexts of use. You would be the person our team would chat with if they have a question about certain users and trends in how our software is being used. * Identify gaps in how user needs are being met, make product recommendations, and channel feedback to our software architects, developers, and designers based on your insights and interactions with the user community. * Define and answer analytical questions based on needs of our partners. Develop user survey design, implementation, and analysis in order to assess the best ways our software can help the world. Research teacher training materials, methods, and modules. Create materials relevant to our users (with a focus on coaches/teachers). * You will hone your ability to translate software and hardware technology concepts for a non-technical audience. You will be communicating with non-technical users and software developers alike. We are looking for core team members who identify strongly with Learning Equality's mission to bring basic education to under-resourced communities around the world. You will be working closely with the Implementations and Content teams out of our offices in San Diego.
Ideal Candidate
**Required Qualifications** * Project management experience * Strong spoken communication and interpersonal skills, and public speaking ability * Technical and non-technical writing (documentation, guides, training materials, reports) * Analytical and organized mindset, habits, and skillsets * Experience with effective pedagogical practice, particularly around blended learning, and other innovative educational models * Comfortable and proficient with office software, e.g. spreadsheets / word processors * Community organization experience is a gigantic bonus. You will be interacting with our users every day so patience, empathy, understanding, and pure enthusiasm are absolutely required. **Optional Qualifications** Learning Equality is still a small organization, and we each wear many hats, so experience in any of the following areas would also be valued (though in no way required): * International experience (studying/working abroad, travel, etc) * Education (e.g. teaching, tutoring, training, administration) * Visual design / graphics / illustration / video production * Multilingualism (in general, but a specific interest in Hindi, Swahili, French) * Research (impact assessment, literature review, learning sciences) * Data analysis (statistics, database management, spreadsheets, reporting) * Instructional content production (authoring educational videos, exercises, etc) * Familiarity with programming (e.g. Python, SQL, R, Django, etc) for data gathering and analysis
