Relevance Quality Analyst

Imgur is looking for a creative, smart, and versatile Search Quality Analyst to join our data team. The ideal candidate has a good eye for aesthetics to provide feedback on search engine results by measuring the relevance and usefulness of results in correlation to predefined queries, by providing comparative analysis of sets of search, personalization and recommendation results. Your work will help us train machine learning algorithms to improve relevance. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include designing evaluations to test relevance features, brainstorming new feature ideas and systematic solutions with engineers, as well as a multitude of other tasks designed to keep the search team running smoothly. As part of the search team, you will represent the user’s perspective as you vet new features being introduced to Imgur.

* Doing evaluations for recommendations, personalization and search within the Imgur product * Assessing the quality and content of customer images sent in via Imgur website and apps * Assisting engineering teams in building training and test datasets * Monitoring the performance of search systems, and identifying opportunities to improve performance * Producing reports on system performance to enable stakeholders to make effective decisions, using Excel and other internal tools. * Test new or changed search functionality * Analyze search problems reported by the Imgur community, figure out what part of our system may be responsible, and work with the team which can fix it * Work with our software engineers to improve our products and infrastructure * Work with our data science team to evaluate the quality of their algorithms and provide them with training data

* College graduate with a 4-year bachelor’s degree * 3+ years of previous work experience in a similar role * Internet savvy * Passion for data * Good eye for aesthetics * Extremely detail-oriented. Nothing gets past you! * Problem solver at heart. You don’t stop until you find a solution. * Excellent at written and oral communication * Constantly looking to improve your skill-set * Motivated and works well independently **preferred experience** * Scripting experience (e.g. python) * Ability to write simple web HTML tools * Experience with data, math and statistics
