Summary
The Application Operations Engineer will configure and deploy Linux systems and applications, implement and support clients, and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of ID Analytics’ Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). The candidate in this dynamic role will partner with development scrum teams to design and deploy solutions in an automated, scalable fashion. The candidate will work directly with clients to implement and support their use of our products in test and production. We are looking for a self-driven individual with excellent hands-on technical ability combined with strong teamwork and communication skills.
Responsibilities
* Develop framework and scripts to automatically deploy services and manage configuration. * Partner with development teams to bring new features and services into production. * Implement and administer RedHat/CentOS Linux servers and applications. * Configure and automate monitoring software to evaluate system stability and performance. * Implement clients in test and production environments, testing and troubleshooting directly with clients to resolve issues. * Participate in off-hour on-call rotating support schedule for production systems. Must be willing to carry phone and email device 24x7 to handle emergencies. * Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* BS in Computer Science or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. * At least three years of IT operations and/or software development experience. * At least one year of experience (or equivalent skills) in Linux command line; skilled with bash commands (sed, grep, awk, regular expressions). * At least one year of experience (or equivalent skills) in one or more scripting languages (Ruby, Python, Perl) with ability to write scripts. * Experience building monitors with enterprise system/application monitoring systems (Nagios, Dynatrace, FireScope). * Hands-on experience implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting Linux/Unix operating system, Internet-based applications, web servers (Tomcat, Apache), web services (JSON, SOAP) and Java applications. * Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking (DNS, DHCP, etc). * Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues spanning the entire technology stack – custom applications, database, O/S, hardware, network. * Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres) and ability to write SQL commands. * Excellent communication (both oral and written), organizational, and customer service skills. * Capable and self-motivated to quickly learn new technologies (scripting languages, technology frameworks, etc). **Preferred Qualifications:** * Experience with cloud-based provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting (AWS, Rackspace, Eucalyptus). * Experience with configuration/orchestration tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Fabric, Capistrano). * Proven in-depth knowledge of Linux internals and common UNIX daemons (syslogd, httpd, nfsd, sshd, etc).
