Summary
Guggenheim is seeking an exceptional candidate to join its Insurance Portfolio Management team in the Santa Monica office. The Assistant Portfolio Manager will be responsible for supporting the insurance portfolio management team by preparing and reviewing portfolio and client reports, analyzing risk and compliance data, coordinating portfolio activities with Operations and Trading teams. Also, he/she will be developing and enhancing portfolio management tools, and assisting with various portfolio management and business development objectives to support the growth of Guggenheim Investments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, and be able to work within a team. The successful candidate will have experience within a buy side environment and be comfortable interacting with other teams within the firm and clients outside the firm.
Responsibilities
* Assist portfolio management team to implement coherent investment strategies for clients and manage clients’ exposure to duration, curve, sector allocation and risk metrics. * Recommend new investments that meet client guidelines, strategies and risk objectives. * Support portfolio management by generating and monitoring portfolio analytics and conducting analyses of insurance portfolios performance with focus on returns, yields, duration, curve, sectors and surveillance. * Responsible for portfolio compliance monitoring and compliance testing on insurance mandates. * Develop, prepare and review the on-going production of portfolio summary reports for Executive Management. * Assist in preparing and reviewing scheduled deliverables and ad hoc client requests and support Guggenheim’s client relationship efforts. * Collaborate with Operations and Trading teams to design and develop reports and portfolio management “tools” using Microsoft Excel and other internal or third-party systems. * Work with portfolio managers on various investment projects to identify and assist in the development and implementation of best practices. * Support marketing efforts and new business initiatives, including generating or reviewing marketing materials and other ad hoc requests. * Maintain investment related processes and procedures and be able to improve operational effectiveness. * Understand investment related processes and procedures and be able to improve operational effectiveness. * Analyze performance attribution and monitor performance drivers across portfolios and sectors. * Work on cash management including securities lending management.
Ideal Candidate
* BA/BS with concentration in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Math/Engineering required (MBA and/or CFA preferred). * Relevant experience (5+ years) in fixed income investment management or capital markets * Strong quantitative and analytical skills (MS Excel/programming/etc.). * Strong communication and computer programming skills. * Team oriented individual with ability to work well with diverse groups. * Proficiency with any of the following analytic systems preferred: Blackrock Aladdin/ANSER platform, Bloomberg, and Barclays POINT.
