Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to lead clinic programs and staff, and provide on- site emergency medical care, treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses, prevention and wellness programs in an automotive manufacturing setting. Responsibilities include direct patient care (60 – 80% of time), and interaction with plant managers, safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, HR and the disability management team. The physician will be responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements in the workplace, and all applicable company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
**Clinical Occupational Medicine Practice:** * Diagnosis and treatment of injuries and illnesses * Conduct medical surveillance and medical qualification examinations * Manage disability and Workers Comp including fitness for duty, return to work exams and employee placement * Lead or participate in preventative occupational health activities: Ergonomics, Blood borne pathogens, Travel medicine * Lead medical emergency response team and activities at the plant **Manage Medical Department Objectives and Personnel:** * Implement and follow GM Medical Department policies and procedures * Follow all Federal and State occupational medical requirements and laws , including OSHA, HIPAA * Ensure all GM Medical staff have and maintain appropriate licensure, certifications and training * Conduct medical department audits to assure compliance. **Partner with the Business:** * Provide Occupational health and medical support, guidance and information to plant manufacturing staff, HR, Union representatives, safety, industrial hygiene and ergonomics staff **Promote Employee Health and Wellbeing:** * Health education and coaching * EAP services and support
Ideal Candidate
**Required:** * High level of initiative and sound independent judgment * High level of interpersonal skills to motivate and work effectively with others * Demonstrates analytical ability * Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills * Competent end user of electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications * Mobility may be required in future assignments **Education and Training:** * Doctor of Medicine, MD or DO * Current Medical license, and ability to obtain unrestricted medical license in Ohio * Residency and / or experience in Occupational and Environmental Medicine * Board Certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Family Practice, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine preferred * Sound knowledge of the practice of medicine including commonly encountered conditions in occupational medicine, primary care, emergency medicine and orthopedics * At least 5 years in clinical practice, with experience in managing a clinic operation, staff and budget preferred.
