Responsibilities
The APQP Senior Quality Engineer will provide quality interface and expertise within the business, establish and maintain quality management systems, which include administration of new product development and launch, prototype manufacturing support, inspection and test, metrology, and early new product development customer relations, and will provide the voice of the Customer in all PROLaunch NPD projects. In addition, this position will support the program manager on designated STP and NPD projects, supporting the development and launch of high quality profitable products within the specified customer timeframe. Essential Functions: - Participate in all aspects of product development and launch activities using PROLaunch guidelines for the business. These efforts are primarily targeted at the identification of customer wants and needs, prototype development, manufacturing process development, inspection and test support, reliability analysis, design review, evaluation of test programs, material testing, inspection plans, and management of quality cost. - Actively engage in PROLaunch NPD from gate 0 through phase 3. Lead the hand-off process for the launch activities from Phase 3 to Phase 4 activities with the appropriate manufacturing function. Ensure that the receiving plant functions have all appropriate process documentation. The documentation may include documents such as Prototype Control Plan, DFMEA/PFMEA (as appropriate) Customer Specific Requirements, PPAP requirements, customer specifications, engineering requirements, gaging plans, MSA’s and other appropriate APQP documentation. - Provide prototype-manufacturing support by developing inspection and visual standards, analyzing and evaluating process capability, process control plans, out-of-control conditions, and process audits. Lead the Problem Solving process using the regional designated tools such IQS to ensure that customer issues due to product designs are investigated to determine and eliminate causes of quality issues and close out the corrective actions using a cross functional engineering team. - Audit New Product Development process (PROLaunch) per audit process to ensure the Quality of Deliverables meet all Eaton and Customer Specific requirements. - Coordinate all applicable business Quality Alerts that need to be issued due to Product Design issues that have a global impact on multiple manufacturing sites. - Provide mentoring support to Quality Engineers in the manufacturing sites within the growth regions to ensure that the individuals are advancing in Quality skill sets and understand Eaton Business System deployment within the Business Unit/Globally - Support TS16949 and Eaton Quality System auditing activities and compliance of Quality Management Systems. Participate in internal audits and Fresh Eyes Audits for the Business Unit/Region. - Lead the development and completion of the Supplier Component Risk Assessment process that categorizes supplier component procurement risks. Coach the plant quality teams to complete the Supplier APQP tasks and Supplier PPAP’s. -Support the business objectives in continuous improvement efforts. - Complies with the policies, procedures, and expectations outlined by Eaton’s Management System for the Environment, Safety, Security, and Health (MESH) and Quality Management Systems.
Ideal Candidate
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required. - Minimum of 3 year’s work experience in automotive manufacturing or product development environment. - Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. Position Criteria: - Demonstrated experience implementing APQP/FMEA Control plan. - Quality experience with a working knowledge of blueprint reading, statistical methods, problem solving, international quality standards, and continuous improvement tools. - Knowledge of manufacturing and engineering processes. - Strong leadership, organization, and presentation skills. - Ability to negotiate with internal and external customers without direct supervision. Preferred Qualifications: - Six Sigma Black Belt Certified - ASQ Certified Quality Engineer - SO/TS 16949:2008 Internal Auditor - APQP Experience
