Java Web Developer / Programmer

Seeking a dynamic and result oriented Web/Java developer for the Discover Card call center application (Orion). This individual will be working on the Enterprise Card projects as well as rewriting/migrating Orion application to HTML5/PCF environment through Continuous Integration and Deployment. This role requires analysis of business requirements as well as design and development of Orion application according to the DFS architecture standards.

• Work with the application Business Analysts and Enterprise Project Managers (Scrum Masters) to understand the project requirements (and/or user stories).
• Provide an input to what can or cannot be accommodated from the project requirements giving suggestions on the best way to achieve the project objectives.
• Write a Detailed Technical Design (DTD) according to High Level Design (HLD) specifications.
• Write the client and service code for the assigned projects according to business specifications and application standards. Provide alternative solutions when requirements cannot be met.
• Perform unit and system testing for all coding changes.
• Support both Integration and UAT testing in the Production Assurance (PA) regions, including researching and fixing defects.
• Adhere to established project timeframes.
• Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes.

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2+ years’ work experience
• HTML5, AngularJS, JSON, Javascript, CSS3
• Java/J2EE, Spring framework, REST and Web Services
• WebSphere application server, Apache, Tomcat
• Continues Integration toolset – GitHub, Jenkins, Gradle/Maven, Sonar Cube
• IntelliJ, RAD, Spring ToolSet
• Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate team and be a team player
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Self-motivated; display high level of initiative, ability to multi-task
• Experience in agile environment is preferred
