Responsibilities
The role of the Assistant Buyer is to manage programs that support the entire Merchandising Department in achieving sales and profit goals. Responsibilities include: - Manage in-house software to reflect all vendor cost changes, temporary, and permanent/clearance markdowns - Maintain Product Information Management System (PIMS) including all product attributes, designer bios, import data, vendor lead times, etc. - Manage sample acquisition including order, tracking, and receipt of product, review of samples, and purging Assist Buyers in daily vendor communication, information gathering, product issues, and cross department (marketing, web, studios) goal execution - Field all new vendor/new product lead phone calls, emails, and deliveries Manage departmental invoices discrepancies and work with finance team to resolve - Attend and record weekly department meetings, quarterly strategy meetings, promotional kickoffs, etc. to help execute departmental responsibilities - Assist Buyer with weekly financial reports, pulling sales data when needed and showing an overall understanding of the category’s financial goals - Research special projects as necessary.
Ideal Candidate
- A passion for design and product - Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. - Strong project management skills. - Excellent computer skills, MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) - Ability to use independent judgment - Must be detail oriented - Reliable, punctual attendance is required - Ability to manage in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment - Ability to interact effectively within Merchandising team and other departments - Preferred 1-2 years experience in merchandising or planning within design or related industry
