Summary
The Assistant Store Manager, you will share responsibility with the Store Manager and other Assistant Store Manager(s) (if applicable) for overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day store operations while providing high level of customer service to all guest. You will also support a team of Sales Associates, Merchandisers (if applicable), Key Holders, and Cashiers (if applicable) to help drive daily sales goals. The Assistant Store Manager will support the Store Manager in assessing the best possible candidates to ensure the management team is creating a solid and profitable sales team. You will assist the Store Manager in interviewing and selectively hiring the most qualified candidates, provide thorough training and maintain the skills and well-being of Team Members with constant coaching and mentoring. In addition, you must address customer needs’ by immediately resolving conflict or complaint, cultivate long-term customer relationships, as well as actively work the sales floor with Sales Associates to create a teachable environment.
Responsibilities
* Sales and customer service – routinely meet and exceed customer needs by providing needed products and to answer customer questions. * Promote and manage a positive and productive work environment by working with the management team to provide clear communication and fair and timely evaluations of all staff. * Help review resumes, interview candidates and select new-hire associates. Train staff on new programs and initiatives. * Partner with the Store Manager to provide ongoing coaching and mentoring for Associates to achieve desired results. * Manage and maintain control of inventory. * Meet or exceed daily personal and store sales/wage objectives. * Maintain merchandise presentation and housekeeping to Cycle Gear MAP standards. * Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales and record-keeping procedures. * Plan store specific promotional events to generate community interest and awareness. * Train team to mount and balance tires per Cycle Gear standards. * Mount and balance tires for customers, as the needs of the business may require. * Manages a high-volume cash receipts function. * Compiles cash flow data from system and reconciles cash/credit card receipts at end of day. * Monitor and document cash overages and shortages; resolve unidentified cash receipts and makes deposits daily to designated banking location. * Manage activities related to evening closings. * Other job duties as assigned by management.
Ideal Candidate
* High School diploma or GED required; 4-year degree from an accredited university preferred. * Previous retail management experience; 2-5 years + preferred. * Previous experience with meeting or exceeding sales objectives in a retail environment. * Previous experience in interviewing and hiring; as well as arranging work schedules based on Team Members’ availability. * Must be able to read and interpret all Store Communications via Gear Net, MAP, and product/department manuals. * Ability to use a computer to manage inventory and control cash. * Ability to manage the functions listed in the Sales Associate, Merchandiser, Key Holder, Cashier (if applicable) job descriptions. * Maintain a valid driver’s license and adequate transportation. * Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some mandatory holidays, evening and weekend shifts. * Must have strong leadership and people-management skills. * Must be a solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills; strong communications skills and positive demeanor. * Must be able to multi-task and have an attention to detail. * Strong analytical skills. **Desired Qualifications:** * Previous retail, customer service, or sales experience; 3+ years preferred. * Familiarity reading and comprehending planograms, modules, plan-o-grams, schematics or POGs. * Previous experience with POS systems; 3+ years preferred. * Familiarity with motorcycles, automotive, motorsports. * Mechanical knowledge, direct experience or the ability to learn/use tire mounting & balancing machines. **Work Environment/Conditions:** * Fast-paced, indoor retail setting; must work on feet for long periods of time. * Overtime may be required during busy periods. * Required to work occasional on/off site promotional events, including evenings and weekends, such as Bike Night, etc.. * Required to lift up to 40 to 50 pounds on a regular basis. * Must be able to climb ladders, reach out and overhead, bend, stoop, squat, twist, and grasp on a regular basis.
