Ready Auto Transport is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a rapidly growing team of engineers in developing our next generation of applications, platforms and services within a hybrid deployment model. The work environment is highly agile and moving towards practicing continuous delivery with some of the latest tools and technologies within a service oriented architecture. The ideal candidate would be passionate about growing and leading a high performing engineering team in a dynamic and continually changing environment.
- Lead a cross-functional software development team with application lifecycle responsibilities: design, commit, deploy, maintain, dev/ops
- Build a strong technology foundation, including best practices, patterns and standards
- Maintain an ongoing awareness of emerging developments and trends in technology
- Own various operational IT initiatives and sees them through to completion
- Owns the technical backlog by managing technical stories and advocating their priority
- Engaged on application production issues and communicates current statuses to business stakeholders
- Understand the enterprise architecture vision, develop solutions in alignment with it, and assist other team members to be compliant with the vision
- Participate and facilitate architecture design sessions and peer design reviews
- Participate in all Scrum activities such as creating user stories, sprint planning, and sprint retrospectives
- Develop and communicate department/enterprise vision, strategies, critical success factors and plans
- Participates in departmental strategic and budgetary planning processes; prepares and administers operating budget
- Identifies staffing needs, prepares job descriptions, evaluates and mentors staff
- Assess technical skills, identify training needs and opportunities, and ensure that required materials and tools are available for direct reports to perform their job responsibilities
- Set performance expectations of team members, guide career development and mentor their success in meeting these objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field
- Minimum 1 year experience in a management or lead role of an engineering team, including hiring, conduction performance reviews and mentoring of technical staff
- 2+ years' experience in C# and SQL Server
- The ability to motivate a team to build products that are scalable and stable
- Ability to think strategically and communicate effectively with all levels of management and business partners
- Detail oriented yet also able to think -big picture' and understand key industry trends
- Ability to handle a high degree of ambiguity, and fast paced change management
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively at the same time and to work effectively under deadline constraints
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to handle diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities
- Self-motivated; works independently
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, and Outlook
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Master's degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field
- 3+ years' experience in a management or lead role of an engineering team, including hiring, conducting performance reviews and mentoring of technical staff
- 5+ years' experience in C# and SQL Server
- Demonstrated experience leading teams in an Agile / SCRUM methodology
