Counsyl is looking for a detail oriented, experienced Purchasing Manager to join our centralized procurement organization. Procurement at Counsyl is responsible for the acquisition of services and materials to support production, R&D and administrative needs. As a Purchasing Manager at Counsyl, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Manufacturing, R&D and CLIA Lab teams to ensure we obtain quality reagents, enzymes, consumables and other lab needs at the right price, at the right time.
- Develop supply management plans and ensure supply for enzymes, chemicals and reagents and lab consumables
- Lead supplier engagement activities including market/product research, supplier engagement, negotiations and contracting
- Lead and monitor all material forecasts and generate optimized reagent buy plans and shipping schedules for technically significant materials; Monitor forecast accuracy to identify failures and unrecognized changes in lab practices
- Maintain accurate BOM’s and Item-level master database
- Develop and manage quality assurance program for technically significant materials; Work with stakeholders to ensure that items meet quality spec prior to use, according to established guidelines
- Act as the focal point for supply or quality issues; work with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve
- Monitor spend and conduct monthly/quarterly reviews with supply base and internal stakeholders
- BA/BS in a science or engineering discipline plus at least 5 yrs of relevant experience in a supply / vendor management role in a laboratory setting
- Clinical / laboratory purchasing category experience, must include chemicals, enzymes, and other technically-significant materials
- Have a “can do” attitude and be able to thrive in a fast paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and project management skills
