Business Systems Analyst

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for building the relationship between business partners and application development/support teams. This role serves as the conduit between the business community and the application development teams. A Business Systems Analyst understands current business and systems processes and is able to assist the development and documentation of future projects.

* The primary responsibilities of this position revolve around working with business partners to understand their needs or issues, gathering and documenting business requirements and needs, and translating the requirements and processes for the development teams. * The Business Systems Analyst ensures that application development efforts meet CarMax®: business requirements, direction, and standards. * The secondary responsibilities of this position may also include those of project coordination. * The Business Systems Analyst may be called upon to outline, track, and monitor the tasks of others.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Understanding of the business processes supported by their respective application environment * Ability to understand & document business requirements as well as provide a proposal of the appropriate solution *Proven experience with working effectively with areas of the business community in order to gather requirements and translate those requirements into functional specifications * Possess good organizational and time management skills * Ability to be flexible TECHNICAL QUALIFICATONS: Education and/or Experience: Years of experience 3+ years of Business Systems Analyst experience preferred Education preference 4 year degree in IT related course of study Computer skills Preferred experience with (see Specialty section) Language Skills: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, business owners, and subject matter experts * Accurately prepares written business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional and engaging * Ability to document findings and solutions that meet the business needs * Ability to present alternative solutions to business users and IT management * Possess effective presentation development and delivery skills including the ability to adjust presentations to match appropriate audience * Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to convey a professional and positive image in all situations Mathematical Skills: * Requires strong analytical and organizational skills * Demonstrated ability in project tracking and reporting * Demonstrated ability to gather, evaluate, and present performance metrics and benchmarks in order to resolve or prevent system problems * Ability to support and assist with the creation of project level budgeting * Ability to support and assist with the tracking of project level budgets and expenditures Reasoning Ability: * Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills * Performs well in high pressure or stressful situations * Collaborate with Architects, developers and subject matter experts as partners in establishing the technical approach for solving problems and analyzing the tradeoffs between usability and performance needs * Proven ability to communicate business requirements and understand how a technical solution successfully meets the business needs * Demonstrated ability to effectively estimate effort, duration and impact required to accomplish requested tasks/projects * Ability to evaluate impacts when making recommendations and decisions * Understands how various issues affect each other and the outcome of projects
