Summary
This position is responsible for leading the company’s enterprise-wide focus on building health equity into Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota’s mission and business practices. The person in this position holds primary accountability for catalyzing and supporting work across the enterprise to implement the health equity strategic plan. This position will be leading highly matrixed work, requiring strong collaboration and partnership with many divisions throughout the company, including Government Programs, Diversity and Inclusion, the Foundation, the Center for Prevention, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing, Health Collaboration, Health Management, Policy and Legislative Affairs, and Communications.
Responsibilities
* Align internal partners under a common vision and strategic action plan to build health equity into our mission and business practices. 2. Lead the implementation of the organization’s health equity strategy by working across the organization to catalyze action. Provide expertise and support to leaders and staff in all areas of the company that are accountable for the work in the strategic plan. 3. Staff the Health Equity Integration Council, comprised of leaders from across the enterprise. 4. Facilitate the identification, prioritization, and development of health equity actions across the organization. 5. Serve as an expert resource on the topic of health equity within Blue Cross. Provide learning opportunities for leaders and staff across the organization about health equity and strategies for addressing it. 6. Monitor and analyze data for trends and recommend strategy and action changes based on it. 7. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal partners to collaborate on points of synergy and alignment. * Represent Blue Cross in state and national health equity forums. Stay apprised of learnings across the nation for how to do this work effectively and incorporate those learnings into our practices.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelors degree in public health, health care administration, or related field. - Minimum of seven years of experience in program development and project management, including complex enterprise-wide projects. - Demonstrated experience building and leading complex, diverse, multi-disciplinary collaborative projects, partnerships, work groups, and teams. - High level of cultural competency skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds. - Deep health equity subject matter expertise. - Excellent written and oral communications skills. - Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to negotiate in a diplomatic manner to resolve conflicts. - Proven ability to lead in a matrix organization and to manage in a highly changing and transforming environment. - Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative and high-level relationships with key stakeholders. * Executive presence and expertise necessary to be viewed with confidence by staff, senior leadership, the board, and external stakeholders. Proven ability to gain influence, credibility, and respect. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Master’s degree in public health, health care administration, or related field.
