Summary
We are looking for a person with linux-based database management experience (database setup, backup, restores, high availability) with a coding background in Java, C#, Perl, python or extensive shell scripting experience. A solid understanding how to configure and manage linux servers. You will be primarily working with our Database Architect to automate database cluster setups, migrations, backups, scaling, and recoveries for our Big Data system (Percona MySQL Clusters running at 14,000 QPS in the cloud, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Redis, and Kafka). Our Database Architect also needs help with automating every aspect of the environment set-up to include monitoring the status and performance of our big data systems; we have a lot of challenges for you! We are using the Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities
* Automate database cluster set-ups, migrations, backups, scaling, and recoveries for our cloud-based Big Data system (Percona MySQL Clusters, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Redis, and Kafka). * Automating every aspect of the environment setup to include monitoring the status of the service (memory, cpu, qps, and quality of service on queries) * Automate linux setups with Chef * Contribute to open source projects to help meet our needs * Manage the Big Data System systems (clustered MySQL, Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Redis, and Kafka) * Support the DevOps Database Architect and the Director of DevOps accomplish both their Agile sprint and quarterly goals * Monitor systems and take corrective actions per guidelines
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering - or equivalent working experience * 1-2 years experience with a popular coding language or shell scripts * Experience in programmatically configuring Linux or Windows servers * Desire to further your career by working with the best engineers in the world * Team oriented and self starter * Subscriber to the Test Driven Development philosophy * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment * Intelligent, energetic, and hardworking individual * Excited by a start up culture and environment
