Summary
Operates, maintains, inspects, diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs all equipment associated with the waste water treatment system. Maintains operating journals and records associated with the aforementioned. Performs required analytical testing and maintains analytical records and journals. Interacts with outside agencies as required. May perform assigned tasks in various areas of the plant.
Responsibilities
* Perform all work as assigned while adhering to high standards associated with safety and workmanship. * Responsible for the safe and dependable operating condition of all equipment in the waste water treatment system. * Performs all required waste water analytical testing and reporting (COD, TSS, pH, N2, Phosphorous). * Maintains all records, logs and summary documents associated with the operation and analytical tests in a professional and ethical fashion. * Set-up, troubleshoot and repair of liquid pumps, valves, air pumps, dissolved-air-flotation (DAF) equipment and all other water treatment system equipment. * Dismantling and re-assembly of pumps, valves, strainers, etc to perform repairs, cleaning and lubrication according to established maintenance schedules. * Testing and troubleshooting of 110/230/460 volt electrical equipment including motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit and wiring. * Able to read, interpret and use Electrical Control schematics for trouble shooting purposes. * Minor programming and troubleshooting of PLC’s. * Understands and adheres to established safety programs (ex/ lock out/tag out, ladder safety, etc). * Communicates effectively at all levels in the maintenance and operating departments. * Communicates effectively with outside agencies as required. * Provides rapid response when equipment malfunctions. * Ensures the water treatment plant is maintained in compliance to electrical and fire regulations. * Assists in coaching and training of maintenance and operating personnel. * Maintains high level of housekeeping, orderliness and cleanliness within water treatment plant * Schedules and oversees outside support services and activities (ex/ Torvac sludge removal, H – O - H chemicals, EMT sampling) as is required.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience with Moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) technology (aerobic digester). * Experience in waste water analytical testing and reporting (COD, TSS, pH, N2, Phosphorous) * Self-motivated, a self starter and self-directed to work without close supervision in a team environment. * Hard working, dependable, safety and quality conscious. * Possesses good language skills (verbal & written) to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and to communicate effectively with others. * Basic mechanical aptitude * Basic knowledge of chemicals, their interactions, and safe handling practices * Must possess a high school diploma, or equivalent. * Reading, writing and basic math skills required. * Experience with moving Bed Bio Reactor (MBBR) technology (aerobic digester) is a plus. * Experience in waste water treatment preferred, but will train motivated individual. * Available to work any shift, as required, to support a 24/7 operation. * Work standing or walking for long periods of time. * Work bending and squatting. * Walk around the facility and be able lift a least 50 Lbs. * Proper and safe use of hand and power tools.
