Summary
The Vice President, Business Development will be responsible for driving sales of VALIC retirement plans in an assigned territory. This position will develop relationships with key executives and industry intermediaries who use another provider for retirement plan services and win new contracts for VALIC to service those organizations.
Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain a sales pipeline capable of producing $60 million in new group sales. * Prospect for new business opportunities via cold calling, canvassing, developing relationships with centers of influence and attendance at national and regional association meetings. * Conduct monthly informal contact and at least annual formal review contact with existing VALIC client executives. * Lead plan sponsor service team (District Manager, Account Manager, Advisor) in coordinating service, meetings, and finalist presentations for existing VALIC group clients. * Attend internal and external national and regional association meetings, consultant meetings, and brokerage firm meetings for the purpose of deepening relationships with existing clients and expanding relationships with prospective clients.
Ideal Candidate
* 10 + years of experience selling products and services for large 401(a), 401(k), 403(b) and 457(b) plans. * 5-7 years of experience prospecting for new business opportunities with proven results. Experience cold calling, canvassing, and the ability to develop a sales pipeline is strongly desired. * Experience working directly with plan sponsor C level executives. * Ability to identify opportunities and needs in existing programs and implement corresponding VALIC solutions * Solid understanding of qualified and non qualified pension markets. * Basic understanding of key relationship management skills. * Exceptional negotiation and sales skills. * Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions. * Strong presentation skills. * College Degree. * FINRA Series 6 or 7, 63 or 65 and state insurance licenses. * Ability to travel in territory 50% of the time.
