Summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design of mechanical and electromechanical products and systems for the Willmar Fertilizer product line. This includes coordinating and engineering standard product lines, custom designs and live orders throughout the Engineering Department.

Responsibilities
  • Design details and customizations on the Willmar tenders and spreaders.
  • Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods for finished product.
  • Develop and maintain standard product designs for the Willmar product group. Develop and implement product enhancements and cost reductions.
  • Respond to incoming customer calls referred to Engineering by Sales department and Customer Service. Provide technical assistance to customers.
  • Interface with Sales Dept. for customer orders. Provide product application assistance.
  • Create and maintain design schedule for assigned products.
  • Provide up-to-date cost sheets and chart drawings for assigned products.
  • Maintain Installation/Operation/Maintenance Manuals for assigned products.
  • Review and check the drawings and other design information for assigned products.
  • Responsible for product documentation.
  • Provide Engineering support to Manufacturing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Willmar Product Manager
Ideal Candidate

Education, Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years Mechanical Engineering/Sheet Metal Design Experience
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Proficient computer and demonstrated experience with Creo and Windchill
  • Microsoft Office skills, with advanced Excel capabilities
  • Sound judgment; uses fact-based analysis to make good decisions
