Advent Software is seeking a talented Dev Ops Engineer for our Continuous Delivery Automation team, located in our San Francisco headquarters.
Advent’s software solutions enable investment professionals to focus on research and investing. Our clients are analysts, portfolio managers, and traders at some of the industry's leading hedge funds, traditional asset management funds, endowments, foundations, funds of funds, and private equity firms. Advent Direct is Advent’s next generation, cloud-based platform for the investment management industry. We are expanding our Continuous Delivery Automation team and are looking for an Automation Engineer to work on Advent’s Continuous Delivery Platform, focused on our Advent Direct platform.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and maintain automation workflows to deploy software.
- Review existing automation, identify opportunities to improve overall productivity and investigate tools that might speed up the process or make us more efficient in build/ release management.
- Support Development teams with building out Continuous Integration environments.
- Consistently improve the maintainability and stability of the pipeline.
Required Qualifications
- A strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.
- Solid understanding and experience working with high availability, high performance, and distributed systems across data centers.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Must be a self-starter, who is unafraid to display initiative and innovation on the job.
- Expertise with source code repositories and version control systems (GIT).
- Proficient in Ruby and Powershell
- Solid understanding of Chef
- Strong background in Windows O/S
- Three or more years’ experience in build / test/ release engineering in a web-based software product development organization.
- B.S. in Computer Science or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- A track record of maintaining and improving skills in existing and emerging technologies through training or self-research.
- Willingness and ability to maintain a positive, quality-oriented, reliable, and flexible attitude.
- Willingness and ability to do what it takes to achieve objectives, including off-hours support or release tasks
- Experience in cloud technologies, specifically AWS
- Experience in VMware virtualization
- Understanding of Jenkins
- Familiarity with Linux
