• Lead a team of engineers to design, develop and support a world-class product search platform serving hundreds of millions of customers across billions of product catalog items with comparable number of updates to the catalog
• Own the index build team’s technical strategy, road map and execution plan. Our systems ingest billions of documents and hundreds of millions of updates that surface in search results in minutes against the backdrop of an ever-growing catalog.
• Own the overall search infrastructure maintainability and security including upgrades to the software stack and stay ahead of the curve to keep the systems secure
• Drive consensus on complex issues across a wide range of stakeholder groups including operations, quality, product management and other peer engineering teams
• Dive into details of issues, make technical contributions and drive the execution of decisions that impact the product, systems and team
• Seek diverse perspectives from our team of technical experts to drive bottom-up innovation and create buy-in from all stakeholders
• Be a talent magnet to attract and hire the best engineering talent
• Mentor, coach and develop highly talented engineers

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• 6-10 years of technical management experience of software developers of varying levels, architects as well as past record of excellent individual technical achievement
• Expertise in: Python, C, C++, Unix/Linux use and internals, IP networking

Preferred Requirements

• Masters Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• Exposure to cloud technologies. Knowledge and experience in AWS technologies is a definite plus
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills with a strong track record of strong delivery skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills. Verbally and cognitively agile to hold your own in a strategy discussion with A9 and Amazon’s leadership teams
• Detail oriented – capable of technical deep-dives into code, understand networking, operating systems and storage at a sufficient level of depth
