Summary
der general supervision, the Clinical Laboratory Technician performs the receipt and accessioning of clinical research specimens into a laboratory information system (LIS), labels and transfers by pipette these specimens into vials (or other) for long term cold storage and places specimens into our Biorepository.
Responsibilities
* Our Clinical Laboratory Technician(s) can, based on skill sets, also perform a broad range of other duties associated with the processing of clinical specimens in a manner that allows us to store and distribute samples to our Biopharmaceutical, Biotech and Medical Device Clients around the World. * The Clinical Laboratory Technician will be responsible to the Laboratory Supervisor for preparing specimens according to protocol, timeliness and accuracy, as well as knowledge of the entire workflow surrounding specimen receipt and disposition. The Clinical Laboratory Technician will communicate with various individuals and areas in the laboratory to ensure that the information in the LIS is correct and linked properly with the clinical specimen and properly placed in long term cold storage. * This position, based in Los Osos, CA is critical to the success of Discovery Life Sciences and requires full understanding and active participation in our Business in order to fulfill our innovative business mission.

**Knowledgen, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristic** * Clinical specimen management skills * Familiar with LIS systems * Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment * Ability to identify and solve workflow issues or errors * Familiar with medical terminology * Ability to follow procedure a step-by-step process * Ability to function in high volume environments * Excellent communication skills **Minimum Qualifications:** * Education and experience equivalent to: * High School diploma; supplemented with two to three (2-3) years of related laboratory experience. * Associates degree in a related field, supplemented experience in a laboratory setting, preferred. * Must possess the ability to accurately troubleshoot issues in the workflow of specimens through the system and follow through with data collection and resolution. This is the place that a specimen enters the system and is accessioned, and is essential to the integrity/accuracy of all lab proceedings that follow.
