Principal Data Scientist

In this role, you’ll work with our data and engineering teams to solve some of our biggest challenges that affect the livelihoods of thousands of independent workers. We’re looking for candidates who are passionate about creating and applying elegant and strategic solutions to both simple and complex problems surrounding the world of labor.

* Drive end-to-end data projects generated from analysis of business problems * Guide the production and best-practices on conceiving, deploying, and testing learning models * Work with product leaders to prioritize ROI on applied machine learning initiatives * Design and run experiments to draw meaningful, useful conclusions * Work with team members to continually improve our capabilities

**Qualifications:** * 8+ years experience as a Data Scientist (or similar) * 3+ years experience working with production-grade machine learning * MS/PhD in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or equivalent technical degree and/or professional experience * Current on modern data science techniques and approaches in production environments * Track record of finishing and shipping projects, models, and analyses **Bonus points for:** * Experience with version control and shell commands (git, github, SSH, *nix, etc.) * Experience with data processing systems (Spark, Hadoop, etc.) * Programming experience performing data analysis (python, R, pandas, scipy, etc.) * Data shoveling experience (ETL, basic munging) * Comfort with the AWS ecosystem (EC2, S3, RDS, Redshift, et al) * Experience providing technical leadership to a data or applied sciences group * Experience working with distributed teams * Knowledge of SaaS-based business * Enterprise-grade data and systems knowledge
