Product Manager

The Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of free, multilingual, educational content, and to providing the full content of these wiki-based projects to the public free of charge. The Wikimedia Foundation operates some of the largest collaboratively edited reference projects in the world, including Wikipedia, a top-ten internet property.

Wikipedia is looking for an experienced and collaborative Product Manager to help build features that enable our communities to achieve our Vision: a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. Product Managers at Wikipedia work with researchers, engineers and designers to build features, products and services used by hundreds of millions of people around the world. This is an opportunity to ‘do good’ while having a high level of impact at a large-scale media property. You will join the Discovery Department, where we build the anonymous path of discovery to a trusted and relevant source of knowledge. Discovery’s products include the systems that power search on Wikipedia, graph searching technology that powers the query interface for our structured data repository Wikidata, and OpenStreetMaps-backed maps service to allow users to explore our content geographically. * Lead the ideation and development of new products to enable the world to consume information and participate in information production. * Work with a highly talented team of engineers, designers, and analysts, to define, design, and build features that delight. * Understand the needs of users in order to prioritize new features and product enhancements for the development team. * Release early and often, getting feedback from users to help improve features. * Use both qualitative and quantitative methods to measure the impact of features.

**Requirements** * 3+ years’ Product Management experience in a consumer-facing web property. * Experience working in an agile software development environment. * Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. * Passion for participatory (vs. read-only) experiences on the web. **Pluses** * BS in Computer Science or other technical field. * Experience building for mobile. * Experience building search-related products. * Experience editing Wikipedia. * Experience with open source software development.
