Summary
The Global Industry Analyst (GIA) will conduct research and make recommendations on small capitalization, non-bank financial stocks as part of Wellington's Finance team.
Responsibilities
* The role of a Global Industry Analyst at Wellington Management is to develop a deep understanding of companies across an industry and the opportunities and risks associated with investing in those stocks in order to recommend them for inclusion in client portfolios. * He or she will develop a thorough grasp of the competitive, operational, financial, and regulatory dynamics, to which the companies are subject. This research will serve as the foundation for the Global Industry Analyst to conduct differentiated, long term, bottom up, fundamental analysis on the stocks, identify mis-pricing or valuation discrepancies, and communicate his or her findings to Portfolio Managers who manage diversified, sector, and hedge fund portfolios on behalf of our clients. * This individual will join a twelve person global team focused on covering the financial sector and be based in either Boston or Radnor.
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an analyst who is passionate about the markets and has a demonstrated record of successful stock-picking recommendations. GIAs must have a fundamental, research oriented, bottom up approach supported by a strong philosophy and process. The ideal GIA will enjoy acting as an individual contributor within a highly collaborative investment culture. He/she will thrive by building strong relationships with colleagues and company management teams; communicating action oriented investment opinions clearly and with conviction and enjoying an open investment dialogue and respectful debate with others at the firm. The ability to take risks and hold non-consensus investment views is critical, as is maintaining the humility to admit mistakes and course correct as new information comes to light. The role requires striking a good balance of intellectual curiosity and the ability to make decisions with incomplete information. Additional qualifications and individual characteristics include: * Capacity for differentiated thinking * A high degree of self-motivation and ability to set priorities * Ability and willingness to make decisions and execute under uncertainty * Love for continuous learning * Global perspective * History of professional achievement * Highest personal and professional integrity and ethics * MBA and/or CFA
