Android System Architect

And it worked, people love sending money with Venmo.

Engineering Architects have the important role of working with the Engineering team to improve technical architecture, development processes, and drive technical best practices. The Android System Architect is a senior, technical leadership role within the Venmo organization. This role is recognized as the go-to architect for the Android platform, responsible for the Android architecture design at Venmo, helping define the next steps in our Android technology direction and driving tech innovation.

* Lead the design and development of our Android app * Create architecture consistent with enterprise architecture standards, guidelines and principles and work with engineering to ensure that implementations are consistent with the spirit of these principles * Understand the broader business and contribute to technology direction * Develop architecture and influence implementation to gain measurable business improvements * Be recognized as the go-to architect for the Android platform * Interface with product and other functional teams and their leadership * Provide leadership to both junior and senior Android engineers

* Bachelors and/or Masters in computer science OR related filed of study * 10+ years experience in software development or a related field * Experience mentoring and developing software engineers * Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and explain technical issues to a non-technical audience * Expert-level Android and Java experience, including a deep understanding of the Android SDK * Intimate knowledge of common design patterns, algorithms, and object-oriented programming * Experience leading the development through the full Android development lifecycle
