Summary
The successful deployment of mobile devices requires continuous assessment of technology and customer needs, as well as a longer-term plan. This position will be responsible for evaluating and recommending new business opportunities, assessing service platforms, devices, and technologies, and maintaining the roadmap for new mobile devices, technologies and OS's. The position is accountable for staying abreast of wireless developments and for producing plans and recommendations that allow the company to maximize it revenue growth.
Responsibilities
* Identify and evaluate new opportunities related to mobile devices. Understand customer (segment) needs and technology developments. Recommend product strategies and service priorities. * Develop business cases including investment requirements, revenues, and costs; define high level operational requirements and assessment of competitive positioning. Make recommendations on those opportunities. * Understand industry developments, competitor plans and positioning, and trends in customer demand and adoption for wireless services. * Develop and maintain a roadmap for wireless devices that details features and functionalities. Define marketing requirements for those devices. * Evaluate new technologies and platforms for mobile devices with Engineering. Determine the market opportunity, whether they meet customer needs, operational requirements and requirements validation. * Assess new and longer-range (12+ months) service developments and produce evaluations to keep executive management abreast of developments. * Assist other functional areas in the planning and preparation for mobile devices. * Own a 18-24 month device feature and technology roadmap * Maintain the organization informed of emerging device trends and new market opportunities * Own the overall device requirements process including definition, documentation and development of requirements * Responsible for leading the device track of new product and technology roll-outs including assessing impacts to long term strategy and to the overall supply chain. * Represent U.S. Cellular® in industry forums and groups * Work closely with handset OEMs to ensure proper implementation of device requirements * Partner with Marketing, Engineering and device vendors on new technology trials * Build effective teams committed to organizational goals; foster collaboration among team members and among teams. Build positive energy/attitude among the group * Lead special projects if necessary
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor degree in Marketing, Business or Engineering required. Technical undergraduate education with business/product management professional experience will be considered. MBA Strongly preferred * 7-10 years in new product development and/or product management required * Professional experience within consumer electronics, software, telecommunications industry or with a wireless voice/data service provider is a plus * Experience with new product introductions to customer-facing associates across the company desired. Project management experience is a plus * Ability to effectively operate within diverse and cross functional groups, including outside vendors * Ability to analyze issues, develop and deploy solutions within a dynamic environment. * Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously. * Well organized, strong administrative and detail oriented skills. * Strong team orientation, communication, project management, creative and analytical skills. * Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills required
