The Supervisor is responsible for assisting and supporting the General Manager with daily operations of the restaurant, labor/scheduling, cost control, and selection, development and management of employees, so as to optimize profits while ensuring guest satisfaction.
Staffing
- Assist the General Manager to recruit, hire, train, develop, manage, schedule, evaluate, motivate, and direct staff.
- Correct performance, reward and discipline staff in a fair and legal manner.
- Conduct training and skills workshops to improve product knowledge and increase sales.
- Create and foster an environment of dignity and respect through demonstration in words and practice.
Financial
- May be called upon to assist with ordering, purchasing and inventory control, and managing deliveries.
- May be called upon at times to assist with financial matters including invoices, payroll, and budgeting.
Health & Safety
- Be knowledgeable about, adhere to, and enforce health and safety regulations so as to provide a safe working and guest environment and reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
- Complete accident reports promptly and accurately in the event of injury.
- Ensure full compliance with business, safety, personnel, labor and other applicable laws.
- Ensure overall restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
Guest Relations
- Ensure guest satisfaction by being active and present on the floor, including assigning stations and side work.
- Handle any guest issues or complaints as they arise in a prompt, effective and courteous manner.
- Work with the Banquet Coordinator and General Manager to ensure proper event bookings and execution.
- Assume complete control of the restaurant in the absence of the General Manager.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to spend a majority of the work day standing.
Required Skills/Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of assistant manager experience in a fine dining restaurant.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel & Outlook.
- Must be able to work 50 plus hours a week including weekends.
