Summary
The Category Management MBA Intern is passionate about creating a product that is tailored to the individual needs of customers and professionals. Whether or not you’ve worked in product at a tech company before, you’re excited to learn, get your hands dirty, and see the results of your work live on our site.You are data-driven and take an analytical approach to problem solving, distilling both quantitative and qualitative data into actionable insights. You can empathize with Thumbtack’s customers and pros and are excited to get to know them better through 1:1 interviews. You get things done - you have a bias for action and work well with cross-functional partners to reach ambitious goals.
Responsibilities
* Own and improve a set of Thumbtack’s categories. The intern will perform research and analysis to deeply understand customer and pro behavior within these categories, and translate that understanding into tangible product improvements to drive growth and improve the customer experience. * Inform and execute strategic category-specific product decisions. Thumbtack is building lots of great products, and the MBA intern will be responsible for defining and implementing product decisions to best serve users in his or her categories. * Act as a Category Management liaison for various functional teams, and inform key cross-functional product and marketing decisions.
Ideal Candidate
* 2+ years of experience pre-MBA - preferably in consumer technology / e-commerce, consulting, or finance * Experience generating and synthesizing qualitative insights (bonus points for consumer/user insights) * Excellent analytical skills and experience drawing insights from data (including advanced Excel skills and willingness to learn some basic SQL) * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work cross-functionally with Product and Marketing teams
