About Thrillist Media Group
Thrillist is the essential resource for how to spend your time and money. We cover all the stuff you love – food, drink, travel, tech, cars, sex, dating, health, and entertainment – with expertise, passion, and taste.
Summary
Thrillist is looking for a Front End Engineer to help develop the next iteration of our mature media platform, and set the direction and standards for all of our client-facing technology. Our web property delivers content to more than 18 million readers a month; you will be responsible in making sure this reaches them in the fastest, most efficient, and most visually beautiful way possible.
Responsibilities
* You follow all of your favorite projects on Github and know exactly where they would fit in within a project you are working on. You are obsessed about page-load speed, and love talking about CDN hit rate, asset compression, and browser memory usage. In fact, you have probably opinions on lots of front-end topics. React or Polymer? Favorite new feature in ES6? We want to hear. * You also love clean, fast, and efficient CSS and Javascript, and want to help other people get to that same level. Code quality is extremely important and we want to meet someone who wholeheartedly agrees.
Ideal Candidate
* A expert level understanding of CSS, Javascript, and HTML. You know how to build towards cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility (our traffic is close to 70% mobile web). * A passion for front-end development, and beautiful, concise, organized code. We want you to own the front-end domain, knowing where and when to use a library (or write your own!). * Excited about being a front end leader, recognizing when code isn’t as clean or as efficient as it absolutely possible. You must be comfortable being on a team with varying skill sets, and mentoring wherever possible.
