Summary
We are looking for a product manager to assist in the the creation, maintenance, and optimization of direct to consumer services. This position will be based on our Sunnyvale, CA office. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the maintenance and development of current and future direct to consumer legal services and enhancements in order to drive continued business growth, under the direction of a team lead. This includes: * End-to-end responsibility for developing feature/ functional specifications for new or existing direct to consumer services; * Participate in or lead cross-functional meetings to ensure on-time and in-scope delivery of new services or service enhancements; * Create proposals or business cases to obtain approval for new services or enhancements; * Conduct or participate in market or customer research to drive the creation and positioning of services; * Develop knowledge of customers, competing services, industry trends, and online user experience concepts and best practices; * Partner with other teams to support ongoing communication of direct to consumer legal services features and benefits to our consumer audiences; * Assist in the creation of plans to sunset obsolete services and service features, as needed; * Write and edit online legal information content for style, legal content, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as needed. This includes: * Optimizing content using best practices in tagging, keyword usage, title creation, content optimization and basic SEO; * Training writers / content specialists on content optimization strategies as needed. [85%] * Report to team lead and/or other leadership on success of direct to consumer program using multiple measures (e.g., revenue, growth, audience). * Track performance using multiple measures (e.g., revenue, engagement, conversion) and use performance measures to constantly refine approach and improve performance. [15%]
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements:** * Bachelor’s Degree required. * JD required. * 3-5 years of product management or related business experience required. * Professional legal practice experience highly desired, but not required. * Strong preference given to candidates with prior experience developing consumer services, including experience specifically developing online services. * Excellent editorial writing skills, with ability to write in a conversational, consumer-friendly tone and demonstrated ability to successfully write for the web. * Excellent oral and written communication skills and very strong formal presentation skills with minimal need for presentation coaching. Demonstrated experience creating and delivering formal presentations to team and/ or leadership in a variety of formats preferred. * Excellent time management and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and ability to work autonomously and plan own time to meet deadlines. * Ability to understand and apply technology concepts to product development. * Proficiency in online services commercialization and marketing. * Some knowledge of financial data and budgeting in a business setting. * Demonstrated experience with a variety of social media tools such as blogs, message boards, social networks, microblogging, social bookmarking and/or social sharing a plus. * Basic HTML skills and working knowledge of SEO best practices a plus. **Ideal Candidate:** * Thrives in a “start up” working environment, but is keenly aware of the special responsibilities that come with developing and managing services for a major multi-national information company. * Works well in a team environment, embraces change and is highly adaptable. * Enjoys reaching and engaging people online and doesn’t shy away from being in the public eye. * Has an interest in and experience writing about legal topics for a consumer audience. * Works well under tight deadlines. * Has a reasonable sense of humor, and is fairly broad minded when it comes to content.
