Summary
The antibody data scientist is responsible for assessing our antibody information and identifying areas of opportunity where we will improve the quality, consistency, and completeness of that information to create a better experience for our customers as they interact with us through our website and technical support team. In conjunction with antibody product managers, the antibody data scientist has primary responsibility for maintaining and improving the quality and consistency of our data to ensure the integrity of information presented to customers. The antibody data scientist is part of a larger team that interfaces with product management, R&D, program management, and external suppliers as necessary to maintain and improve upwards of four million data points including applications data for our existing catalog antibodies of more than 75,000 antibodies. The team also collects and evaluates information for new products as they are prepared for launch, and then disseminates thorough and accurate information on time to various operational teams to assist in the launch process through all internal and customer-facing systems.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the product information and data in our antibody database and identify opportunities to drive improvements * Manage data accuracy and integrity for antibodies * Assist in capturing and reviewing information for new antibody introduction projects * Disseminate information for new product launches to gather approvals and facilitate entry into core business systems * Evaluate and implement changes to antibody data as submitted by colleagues * Assist Customer Service, Technical Support, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Control in addressing customer inquiries and concerns related to antibodies * Lead and participate in cross-functional teams in new product development, technology transfer, process improvement, and general operations. * Lead, schedule and facilitate periodic review meetings with antibody suppliers * Manage supplier corrective actions for catalog antibodies * Perform all job duties consistent with the Thermo Fisher code of ethics and the 4-I values * Perform other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate combines a thorough understanding of antibody applications in the laboratory and a mastery of Microsoft Excel with some SQL database experience and understanding of bioinformatics. This role requires high attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong sense of urgency. **Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:** * Bachelors degree in a life science discipline or related field to include 2-4 years of experience * Thorough understanding of antibodies and their applications in life science research * Microsoft Excel experience with multi-level functions and large data sets * Experience working with databases * Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Attention to detail with high quality output is critical * Strong analytical and problem solving skills * Excellent judgment, decision and discretion * Ability to influence others and drive for results * Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with business partners in diverse locations via phone, email, and up to 10% travel * Self-motivated with the ability to work as a team player and/or independently **Desired Qualifications:** * Advanced degree in an applicable life science discipline * Laboratory experience working hands-on with antibodies and immunoassays * Exceptional experience in the use of Microsoft Excel, and SQL programming * Bioinformatics knowledge/experience * Program and project management skills
