Responsibilities
**Strategic Leadership of the Clinical Enterprise** - In conjunction with the CEO and the Strategy Team, develop and recommend to the Board plans for growth and development consistent with The Polyclinic mission. - Partner with the Corporate Compliance Officer to develop a culture and systems that ensure that The Polyclinic meets all legal, regulatory and ethical requirements. - Recruit and retain high quality providers. - Promote changes in the delivery system that position The Polyclinic for success in the future. **Organizational Performance and Operational Execution** - Partner with the COO to ensure a balanced agenda of patient satisfaction, quality, safety, cost effectiveness, production and workplace satisfaction across the clinical enterprise. - Partner with the COO to execute the strategic plan for The Polyclinic. - Support and promote the dyad structure (physician and management partners) and cross-functional management approach. - Act as a resource and content expert for non-clinical management personnel. - Facilitate effective communications among all internal stakeholders. - Promote electronic health record optimization to enhance the use of and ensure the availability of timely and meaningful information for clinical decision support. **Promote Physician Leadership and Accountability** - Create and implement a physician leadership development strategy and plan to advance the lean culture and mindset. - Manage the budget for physician leadership. - Identify, mentor and support future physician leaders. - Partner with senior executives and board of directors to develop succession planning for leadership. - Oversee the evaluation of medical staff and engage in constructive feedback. - Oversee, with the COO, the management structure within the clinic. - Coach, mentor, support and manage all physicians who have a medical management role within The Polyclinic. **Promote a Positive Physician Culture** - Actively support and promote the lean philosophy and core values of The Polyclinic. - Establish appropriate standards and expectations for professional performance. - Provide coaching, counseling and discipline, when needed. - Oversee systems of support for physician well-being and active engagement. - Assure effective interdepartmental communications and problem solving. - Support and ensure the highest possible ethical standards in all Polyclinic activities. - Positively influence the physician culture by being a good role model and citizen of The Polyclinic. **Represent the Polyclinic to External Stakeholders** - Serve as key clinical liaison to external health care organizations, payers, government and community as needed. - Facilitate effective relationships between The Polyclinic physicians and the overall health care delivery system, including hospitals, other physicians and their organizations, skilled nursing facilities, durable medical equipment suppliers, home care providers and health plans. - Serve as key liaison with The Polyclinic’s malpractice insurance carrier. **Promote the Governance Structure** - Participate in The Polyclinic Board of Directors meetings as a member of the executive team. - Support The Polyclinic Board of Directors. - Support The Polyclinic committee governance structure as appropriate. - Support Physician Care Network Board of Directors. **Management duties** - Select, oversee and evaluate section chiefs, medical directors, and associate medical directors. - Oversee the Quality Department. - Oversee Risk Management. - Participate in health plan contract strategies and negotiations as appropriate, with special attention to clinical performance. - Propose, develop, and/or review policies and procedures. - Assume any other management duties as may be requested by the Strategy Team or The Polyclinic Board of Directors.
Ideal Candidate
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** - Active Washington State physician’s license - Board certified - Masters degree in management (MMM, MPH, MBA, or equivalent) **Experience:** * Demonstrated experience in a clinical practice; at least 5 years of experience in a senior medical management role; * Preferably in an ambulatory multi-specialty organization; * Broad knowledge of healthcare industry and demonstrated understanding of trends in clinical care as well as private and public sector initiatives; * Experience contributing as a senior member of an organization’s management team and as a leader of medical staff.
