The NY Foundling is seeking a highly motivated systems engineer to help with the maintenance and operation of our technology infrastructure. This is a technical, hands-on position. Day-to-day work will be roughly split across a) project-oriented systems maintenance and upgrade work, and b) serving as a technical escalation point for the helpdesk team, including helpdesk calls. Priorities and projects will be determined by the office of the CIO, but the successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of identifying technical gaps and areas for improvement.
- Monitors, maintains, supports, and optimizes network, servers and communications systems.
- Point of escalation for advanced desktop support issues and low-level server issues.
- Applies proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
- Educates and trains Level I Technology Infrastructure and Helpdesk staff members regarding any new tools, solutions or any changes and modifications to the existing systems.
- Aids with the design process for implementation of all new technology infrastructure systems and upgrades.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or certificate(s) from a technical trade school with a focus on computer networking, Master’s Degree in Computer Science or similar is a plus
- Extensive helpdesk and technical team leadership experience.
- Advanced-level technology management skills and best practices.
- Strong project management skills, including the demonstrated ability to execute on a project plan and keep current documentation of all project efforts and issues.
- Extremely well-organized, able to juggle many simultaneous tasks and changing priorities.
- Able to triage complex technical issues related to infrastructure technologies and a multitude of other variables in the mix.; documentation and standardization; response time & resolution time metrics.

Moderate to advanced-level technical knowledge of most of the following:
- HP Servers with iSCSI SAN
- VMWare vSphere
- Veeam Backup & Replication
- Windows Server 2008 & 2012
- Exchange 2010
- DNS and Active Directory
- Group Policy and NTFS Permissions
- TCP/IP LAN and WAN technologies including MPLS, Cisco and Meraki switches, firewalls, and WAPs
- Automation via PowerShell or other scripting languages
- Familiarity with ConnectWise and/or Kaseya a plus.
- Microsoft, Cisco, and VMWare certifications a plus.
- A well-rounded skill set is preferable to deep knowledge in any one technical area.
