About Telefonix, Inc.

Telefonix, Inc., located in Waukegan, Illinois, specializes in the design and manufacturing of a broad array of in-flight entertainment products, audio equipment, cord reel and specialty cable assembly products.

Responsibilities
  • Candidate will be responsible for assigned projects and proposals, including product design, cost schedules and testing; assume complete project responsibility under the guidance of the Engineering Manager.
  • Prepare technical proposals, design documentation, test reports and work instructions for products including description of proposed equipment reliability, and other data required to satisfy customer specifications.
Ideal Candidate
  • Familiarity with design for multiple manufacturing processes (injection molded plastic, sheet metal fabrication, die casting and machining)
  • Mechanical layout of printed circuit boards
  • Design analysis tools such as FEA, FMEA, DFMA
  • Understand technical analysis cost estimates, feasibility and prepare recommendations.
  • Ability to work on product development and existing product maintenance
  • Proficiency with ProE, Solidworks, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
  • Team player, self starter and able to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000, ISO 14000 and AS9100
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience with consumer electronics product design
  • Exposure to DO-160 based validation testing
  • Designing aircraft based products entertainment equipment
  • Experience with communication, audio and gaming products

Education:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, material components selection and design solutions. Experience working from design concept through development and into a production process. Some experience with qualification testing and test report writing. Familiarity with bills of material and writing engineering change orders.
